Research Interests

Surface physics
Study of nucleation and growth on semiconductor  (III-V) surfaces. In particular my work is focused on adsorption and diffusion of adatoms on InGaAs wetting layers by means of ab-initio calculations. Surface steps and their electronic, structural, and eleastic properties are investigate, as they are important for nanostructures nucleation. This investigation is acarried out using ab-initio methods and classical potential approach.

Nanostructures
Semiconductor free-standing Nanowires, their electronic properties, and surface arrangements.

Semiclassical Electron transport
The current-voltage (velocity-field) characteristics are investigated for Si/SiO2 superlattices. Different simulative approaches have been used, based on the semiclassical Monte-Carlo method and on the Wannier-Stark wavefunctions.

Coherent electron Transport
The dynamics of electrons flowing through solid-state quantum gates has been investigated by means of the  time dependent Schroedinger equation.
The effect of the interface roughness on electron transport in quantum wells has been investigated by means of the Landauer-Buttiker formalism.

Electronic Noise
Shot noise in mesoscopic systems, effect of the interaction between carries, ASEP models for interactions in rings and chains, where transport occurs through discrete hops.
